11.30.09 this might be a favorite.....

Near Jackson and Tchoup, I love it!

.....and Outlaw Books, which is in response to READ.

...which brings me to HARSH, also above, found all along the Gulf Coast but based in New Orleans, as an interview with the artist says he originally began marking it on the back of Post Katrina billboards that had overly upbeat messages, "Let's Stick Together, New Orleans! We're bringing it back!"

11.25.09 Harsh, so harsh.

See the blue meanie inside?

These roses are on the side of a massive abandoned warehouse - really adds a bit of life to the building, to say the least.

So naughty, I love it! And harsh!

A friend's camp in Folsom, LA.
Absolutely breathtaking.

11.20.09 Dad's Photo

Right after Hurricane Katrina, my Dad and brother drove around to look at the damage near my grandmother's house in Gentilly, and snapped this photo. Just a random house, on a slant and the local newspaper, he even does this hilarious facial expression with it, "Huh? Hurricane?"

11.18.09 Storyville New Orleans

An old New Orleans advertisement for a Storyville madam known as "Queen Gertie," from the New Orleans, Louisiana publication, "The Mascot." She supposedly had a reputation for being a troublemaker. From the book, "Storyville, New Orleans" by Al Rose.

11.16.09 Day trip to Jean Lafitte Park

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park is part of Louisiana's Mississippi Delta Region. There are several sections to the park, all located throughout Louisiana. Above is from the Barataria Preserve, just on the other side of the Mississippi River, about 25 minutes from Uptown New Orleans. Oui oui, alligator!

11.13.09

An old photo from the New Orleans Public Library, depicting the first of women's swimwear fashions, taken in 1919. I love their facial expressions, you can really tell who must have been the funny one, the serious one and so on....

11.12.09 Sazerac Bar

Women stormed the Sazerac, the bar located in The Roosevelt, in this 1949 photo. Doesn't look too different from bar scenes today.

Banksy making his mark on an old levee wall.

Can't believe this one is still there. After a few months, they usually get painted over or torn down.
